5-Alarm Fire Breaks Out in Whitman, Mass.

Crews knocked down a 5-alarm fire that broke out Wednesday evening in Whitman, Massachusetts.

Fire officials in Whitman confirmed the response to a 3-alarm house fire at 316 Commercial St. Officials later said a fourth and a fifth alarm had been struck.

No injuries have been reported. Fire officials believe everyone is accounted for, but they are still working to determine how many people had been inside.

Tenants of the six-unit building evacuated on their own. Resident Scott Hunter ran to notify people, including his nephew, who was about to get in the bathtub.

The fire started on the third floor. It took firefighters hours to knock it down.

The cause is under investigation.
