After flooding roadways in the North Shore and the South Shore, the torrential downpours and thunderstorms associated with the Clipper system that marched across New England will weaken and subside as early as dinner time.
Overall, rainfall totals have neared 4” in Lynn, 2” in Salem, and over 4” for East Boston. Tonight, we’ll see a slow clearing of the skies and drier conditions. Lows slip back into the 30s to the north, where Frost Advisories and Freeze Warnings have been posted into early Sunday morning. Lows in southern New England slip into the 40s. Sunday brings temperatures closer to normal with highs into the mid to upper 60s under plenty of sunshine- great for any of those outdoor fall plans- like going to the local fairs, Halloween decorating, apple-picking, etc.
We can thank the dome of high pressure just off to our west that will usher in the pleasant and warmer weather for the second half of the weekend and into the first half of the next work week. Highs increase to near 70 Monday and Tuesday to near 80 by Wednesday and Thursday before a cold front slides in Thursday into early Friday, bringing rain and a cool-down. In the meantime, as we enter the first full week of the month of October, do not forget to send in your favorite fall foliage photos as the peak color starts to show in northern New England.
