Former Gov. Deval Patrick's Brother-in-Law Arrested for Violating Restraining Order

The brother-in-law of former Massachusetts Gov. Deval Patrick was arrested Friday for violating a restraining order in Milton.

Bernard Sigh, 66, pleaded not guilty at his arraignment in Quincy District Court on Friday afternoon. He was ordered held without bail for 90 days and is due back in court on May 4 on the new charge.

He was represented by attorney Jose Sanabria.

Sigh was arrested in December on an assault to rape charge after a woman told police he had hidden in a closet in her Milton apartment wearing only underwear. She said he grabbed her and prevented her from leaving.

Sigh previously served jail time in California for spousal rape in 1993.

Patrick got involved in 2014 when Massachusetts required Sigh to register as a sex offender.
