A raging garage fire in Quincy, Massachusetts, sent one person to the hospital on Sunday, authorities said.

The flames broke out in the garage overnight at 301 Billings St., where one person was inside. That person was brought to a nearby hospital for treatment of unspecified injuries. There was no immediate update on the person's condition.

No firefighters were injured in battling the blaze.

"I was woken up at night and I heard a big boom. It basically sounded like fireworks outside," neighbor Bobby Teehan said. "I came out, and Quincy police were starting to get people out of their houses making sure that no one was near the fire, and they did a great job putting it out, too, last night."

The garage has been ruled a total loss, the Quincy Fire Department said, and a car was badly damaged, as well.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
