Boston police say a suspect is in custody

A man was shot and killed on Sunday morning in Boston and a suspect is in custody, according to police.

John Patterson, 29, of Peabody, has been charged with murder in connection with the Goodale Road shooting in the city's Mattapan neighborhood, Boston police said.

The victim's name has not been released; however, he was identified as a man in his late 20s.

Officers responded to a call for a report of a person shot on Goodale Road just before 10 a.m., and when they arrived, they found a man who had been shot.

Police said the victim was pronounced deceased at the scene. A gun was also found at the scene.

Officers were able to identify Patterson as a suspect and took him into custody. He will be arraigned in Dorchester District Court. It's unclear if he has an attorney.

It's also unclear what led to the shooting.

NBC10 Boston watched as investigators took photos outside of a green house and went door-to-door to interview neighbors.
