Hingham Police Bid Farewell to K-9 Axel

The Hingham Police Department announced the death of their K-9 Axel on the department’s Facebook page.

Axel served Hingham Police Officer James Floss for more than eight years. After retiring, Axel remained with Officer Floss at his home.

On Thursday, officers gave Axel a final salute as he walked past them. After leaving the Old Derby Animal Hospital in Hingham, the pooch was given a police escort to a cemetery in Middleborough, where he was met by more than 25 area K-9’s.

The department said that their thoughts are with the Floss family and know that "Axel is resting in peace."
