Man Arrested After Allegedly Using Rock to Break Into Holbrook Home

A man was arrested after using a rock to break into a Holbrook, Massachusetts home.

Police say Daniel Madden, 32, of Avon, came out of the woods near Hamilton Way with a rock that he used to smash a rear glass slider to break into the home.

Madden was only wearing boxer shorts at the time of the attempted robbery, which happened after midnight, according to Holbrook police.

The homeowners scared Madden off when they confronted him in the home, and the suspect fled back into the woods behind the home.

A Massachusetts State Police helicopter was called in to assist in the search for Madden. Holbrook police and state troopers were able to follow the suspect's track, and the helicopter crew located Madden using thermal camera technology.

Video shows the moment police captured Madden after a 2.5-hour search.

Madden was arrested at 2:40 a.m. off of Howard Street in Brockton and taken to a local hospital.

He's being charged with destruction of property and malicious breaking and entering a building during the night.

Neighbors who live nearby didn't want to talk on camera but tell NBC10 Boston they are troubled by the reports.

"It's as quiet as can be around here. The only time you hear anybody is when the schools getout and the kids get out, but there's not that many kids here either."
