Our latest app update allows you to select the categories of news alerts you want to get from on your device. We’ve included topics that matter most to you, based on your feedback.
You can select from Breaking News, General News, Live Events, Traffic Updates and Sports News.
To personalize your notifications, first check "Allow Notifications” when you download the new app. Click on the menu in the top left and then hit the gear icon on the top right in the app. On iOS devices, select Alert Settings under Notifications. The new Android apps have not been released yet, but will be available soon.
The news alert categories will automatically be ON if you allowed notifications on your device. Make your selections by toggling the blue button off or on next to each topic.
Breaking News will give you alerts about the latest and most urgent stories of the day in your region, U.S. and the world.
News alerts are for non-urgent stories about important topics and issues.
Commuter alerts will keep you posted about traffic incidents or delays that will impact your commute.
Local
In-depth news coverage of the Greater Boston Area.
Sports news will keep you up to date on the latest news involving the Patriots, Red Sox, Celtics and Bruins.
Watch live will alert you to any livestreams of events like newscasts, press conferences or court hearings.
If you don’t see these options in the app settings, make sure you have version 5.8 or later on your device.
