71-Year-Old Man Killed in Pedestrian Crash Involving Firefighter Under Investigation

The driver is a Hull firefighter and paramedic, according to the town's fire department chief

A deadly car crash involving a Massachusetts firefighter is under investigation.

Police say 71-year-old William Fredette of Brockton was hit by an SUV shortly before 6 p.m. Monday on Route 3A in Weymouth.

The driver, identified only as a Hull firefighter and paramedic, performed CPR on Fredette and remained at the scene, according to Hull Fire Chief Chris Russo. The driver was taken to a local hospital for evaluation.

"Our thoughts and prayers are with the victim and their family as well as our member that was involved in this tragic accident," the fire department said in a statement.

The firefighter allegedly involved in the pedestrian crash is cooperating with investigators, authorities said.

No charges have been filed at this time.

The investigation is ongoing.
