Police: Man Assaulted Female Resident at Hyannis Group Home, Hid in Bathtub

A Massachusetts man is scheduled to face a judge after police say he entered a group home in Hyannis and allegedly assaulted a woman early Sunday morning.

Cristian Lema, 29, of Yarmouth, will be arraigned Monday in Barnstable District Court on charges of armed burglary, assault on an occupant, and strangulation or suffocation.

Police said officers were called to a group home at 2:25 a.m. Sunday on Main Street for a report of an assault.

When they arrived and spoke to the 52-year-old victim, she stated that she had been sleeping in her third-floor bedroom when a man entered the room and covered her nose and mouth with his hand. When the victim screamed, the man fled the bedroom and down the stairs to a first-floor area of the home which had no exit.

When police searched the home, they located Lema hiding in a bathtub.

Lema was arrested and taken to the Barnstable Police Department.

It's unclear if he has an attorney to represent him.
