Beginning Monday, July 2, there will be a hike in parking ticket fines for the city of Boston.
City leaders say it's the first time they've raised the price of tickets in 10 years.
Area residents aren't feeling too good now that seeing orange will mean more green.
"It's not a good feeling," one man said.
"Whatever they want to do, they just do it. I don't know," another man said.
Parking ticket fines in Boston are increasing for 11 different violations:
- Resident Parking, from $40 to $60
- Overnight Street Cleaning (Ticket But No Tow), from $40 to $90
- Loading Zone, from $55 to $90
- No Parking Zone A, from $55 to $90
- No Parking Zone B, from $25 to $55
- Double Parking Zone A, from $45 to $55
- Double Parking Zone B, from $30 to $35
- No Stopping or Standing, from $75 to $90
- Meter Fee Unpaid, from $25 to $40
- Over Meter Time Limit, from $25 to $40
- Over Posted Time Limit, from $25 to $40
Why the price hike? The city says they need the extra revenue to pay for their long-term transportation plan, Go Boston 2030, that was announced back in April.

"I don't know if that's the right way to go about it," one woman said.
Officials are looking to redesign intersections, smooth out the roads and construct new projected bike lanes.
"Obviously the bikers don't pay the parking prices, but I think that, you know, the angle might be hard to see at first, but it will be helpful for everyone," Kyle MacNeil said.
One of the targets of the transportation project is to make every home in Boston a 10-minute walk from a rail station, bus stop, bike station or car share.
"That's one way to get money and roads need repairing all the time, so, might as well make good use of it," one man said.
Boston issued more than 1.3 million parking tickets in the 2017 fiscal year, according to the city’s website. It also announced that more than 33,000 parking enforcement requests were received in the first 10 months of the 2018 fiscal year.
