Isolated Showers Possible, Humidity Continues to Increase

There will be a few breaks in the clouds

Forecasting in New England is always fun, especially with set-ups like we have this weekend. There’s a fog fight going on today, as we have warm and humid air aloft, while cooler air is at the surface due to an onshore wind. There’s also a lack of steering winds, so the fog will linger for a while near the coast.

The weather will improve by the afternoon with few breaks in the clouds and temperatures in the 70s along the coast, while 80s inland. Most of us stay rain free today, great weather for our annual Clear The Shelters event, though we could see isolated showers and storms north and west of Boston during the evening as a shortwave approaches from the west.

Humidity will continue to increase tonight with even a rumble of thunder possible overnight.

Sunday morning, temperatures will be in the upper 60s to low 70s with some fog along the coast once again. Not the best weather for the Falmouth Road Race because it will be quite muggy and uncomfortable for runners but at least the rain that fell overnight should be out by then.

Partly sunny conditions Sunday with a renewed chance for a thunderstorm in the afternoon especially over western and northern New England but with a wind out of the southwest, isolated showers are possible closer to the greater Boston area. Highs will be close to 90 along the Connecticut River Valley while 80s elsewhere.

A warm front will move through the region Sunday night, with warmer temperatures in place to begin the week. Monday and Tuesday will be toasty with highs in the 90s and high humidity, allowing it to feel closer to the mid-90s for many. There’s also a slight chance for afternoon storms both days.

By Wednesday, a cold front comes closer to New England and it will trigger scattered showers and storms-some of them could be strong- temperatures are expected to be around 90 degrees in Southern New England.

Behind this front, our First Alert 10-day forecast indicates cooler and less humid air arrives just in time for next weekend with lots of sun and temperatures in the lows 80s.
