Jackknifed tractor-trailer, fuel spill causes delays on Route 1 in Revere

A jackknifed tractor-trailer that is spilling fuel caused delays on Route 1 north in Revere, Massachusetts, on Monday afternoon.

State police said shortly after 12 p.m. that they were on scene of a jackknifed tractor-trailer on Route 1 just north of Route 60 (Copeland Circle).

There is a fuel spill, police said, and the left lane was closed.

There is no word on injuries.

Shortly before 1 p.m., state police provided an update on the situation, saying a ruptured fuel tank on the tractor-trailer spilled onto the road and into storm drains.

Revere fire, the state Department of Environmental Protection and the Massachusetts Department of Transportation are also on scene.

Only the breakdown lane was open to traffic while crews attended to the situation, but state police said around 1:40 p.m. that the scene was clear and all lanes had reopened.

No further details were immediately available.
