Red Sox Broadcaster Jerry Remy Announces He's Cancer Free

Boston Red Sox broadcaster Jerry Remy announced Saturday morning he's now cancer free.

"Friday was a very good day for me," he wrote on Twitter. "Had my first scan since going through treatments. Highly successfull. Cancer free for now and hopefully forever. So pleased !!!!"

The NESN commentator announced he had been diagnosed with cancer again in early August, but stayed upbeat as he told fans he would "never quit" fighting.

This has not been the 65-year-old's first brush with cancer. He was first diagnosed with lung cancer in 2008, relapsed in 2013 and again twice in 2017.

He was a longtime smoker and has previously spoken out to encourage regular medical check ups.
