Police Release New Surveillance Video in Fatal Shooting Investigation

Authorities in Massachusetts have released new surveillance video images in connection with an ongoing investigation into a deadly shooting in late November last year.

The Essex County district attorney's office said Thursday it was releasing the video in an effort to help detectives solve the Nov. 26 shooting death of 25-year-old Mindy Tran, who was shot and killed while driving a car in Lawrence.

The surveillance video shows two people walking to and then running from the Hillside Avenue area where Tran was found.

Lawrence police said Tran was driving when the shooting happened, which resulted in her crashing into another vehicle.

In November, Lawrence Mayor Dan Rivera told NBC10 Boston the shooting appeared to be drug-related, involving people who don't live in the Tower Hill neighborhood.

"People come into these neighborhoods, quiet neighborhoods in the city of Lawrence to do a drug transaction. God knows what's going on through their heads and then something violent transpires," he said. "I think if we can get less and less people needing to buy drugs and less and less people selling drugs and less availability of illegal weapons, I think we'd be better off and things like this wouldn't be happening here."

The Essex district attorney's office, state and Lawrence police are investigating the fatal shooting.
