Look Out for Localized Lightning, Isolated Wind Damage

Our weather becomes more active as a front moves toward the area Friday.

Clouds will increase from west to east, with scattered downpours and storms breaking out during the afternoon in particular.

The storms will be most widespread north and west of Boston, with mostly dry conditions closer to the coast. That means there will be plenty of opportunities to enjoy the beach for those on vacation. Highs will mainly reach the 80s.

Any storms that do fire up will contain locally heavy rain, lightning, and the potential for some isolated wind damage.

The weekend will still be a bit unsettled unfortunately, with a fair amount of clouds both days.

On Saturday we’ll also still have to fight a few showers or a storm, particularly in Southern New England. That’s where the front will take longest to depart. Expect highs around 80.

Sunday will also feature plenty of clouds, but the risk of a spot shower is fairly low.

The bottom line is that it won’t be a great beach weekend, but it will be far from a washout with plenty of time to be outside.

Next week should start on a brighter, drier note.
