Male Bridgewater State University Student Accused of Recording Female Classmate in Shower

A male student of Bridgewater State University was arrested after allegedly recording a female student in the shower.

The victim told university police Tuesday night that she was showering in a co-ed bathroom when she saw a cellphone over the top of the curtain.

Using a photo database of students living in the dorm, police identified the suspect as 20-year-old Ryan Gilbride of Lowell.

While police said Gilbride initially denied being involved, they added that a search of his phone found photos of other women believed to be upskirting victims. He eventaully admitted to his involvement in the inicident Tuesday, according to police.

Authorities said no photos were found from the incident that was reported to them.

According to police, a password-protected app on Gilbride's phone appeared as a calculator, but was used to store pictures and videos.

Gilbride is charged with disorderly conduct, photographing an unsuspecting nude person and attempting an unlawful wire tap. He is due to be arraigned Monday in Brockton District Court. It was not immediately clear if he had an attorney.

Thursday night, Gilbride was released on $240 cash bail.
