Honn allegedly held the woman against her will and assaulted her. Authorities said she fled the home after he fell asleep.

The woman called police using a neighbor's phone.

Honn was arrested on charges of kidnapping, aggravated rape and assault and battery causing serious injury.

The woman who was attacked returned to the scene Monday night, apparently wearing in a hospital gown. Authorities had to escort her away.

The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner of Massachusetts is working to determine the cause of the man's death.

"I can honestly say he was a good man, good father," said Sam Sok, a friend of the victim. "More importantly, he was a great grandfather."

The Middlesex County District Attorney's Office noted that additional charges may be filed.

Honn will be arraigned Tuesday in Lowell District Court. It was not immediately clear if he had an attorney.
