The man arrested in connection to Saturday's fatal stabbing in Brockton, Massachusetts, has been identified as the victim's roommate.

Robert Savignano, 25, was arrested and charged with murder, Plymouth County District Attorney Tim Cruz said in a press release Sunday. Authorities allege Savignano stabbed 35-year-old James Jennette multiple times after a fight broke out between the two late Saturday night.

Brockton police received multiple 911 calls around 8:30 p.m. reporting an altercation was taking place at 158 Lisa Drive, where both Savignano and Jennette lived together.

Responding officers found Jennette unresponsive and bleeding from multiple stab wounds, police said. He was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Two Brockton police SUVs were on scene late Saturday night. There was no crime scene tape visible outside the home but detectives were walking nearby and inside the home.

Savignano is expected to be arraigned Monday in Brockton District Court. It's unclear if he's an obtained an attorney who can speak on his behalf.

Detectives assigned to the Plymouth County District Attorney's Office are investigating. The investigation is ongoing.
