Man Arrested for Allegedly Posting Racist Fliers, Tagging Swastikas in Westford, Massachusetts

A 19-year-old man was arrested Monday after he allegedly posted fliers with racist messages across Westford, Massachusetts.

Westford police responded to a call at 11:06 p.m. for a suspect who was allegedly posting fliers near Elm and Birch Roads. Police found the fliers and two swastika symbols spray painted on a stop sign and a box spring in that same area.

Based on information from a neighbor, officers located a vehicle believed to belong to the suspect. They found a swastika stencil, spray paint, several of the fliers and a bottle of alcohol in the car.

The suspect, George Carty of Lowell, was arrested and charged with two counts of tagging and one count of minor in possession of alcohol, according to police.

He is scheduled to be arraigned Tuesday in Ayer District Court.

It is unclear if he has an attorney.
