Victim in Burning Car in Worcester Cemetery is Identified

The body found in a burning car in a Worcester cemetery a week ago has been identified as Cynthia Webb, 59, of Sterling, Massachusetts, according to the Worcester County District Attorney on Wednesday.

Police arrested a suspect in the incident on Tuesday.

Firefighters made the grisly discovery in Hope Cemetery on the morning of Dec. 12. When the flames were extinguished, an unidentified body was discovered in a burned-out sedan.

Police released surveillance images of a 2004 red/maroon Buick LeSabre. After an investigation, 56-year-old Steven Foley of Northboro was arrested in Peabody on an outstanding warrant; Worcester District Court also issued a warrant for the charge of burning a motor vehicle.

Police previously had said they knew who owns the car in which the body was found.

John Dirsa, whose son is buried at the cemetery, told NBC Boston last week that the incident was highly unusual.

"Today, with the way the forensics are and stuff, I can't imagine whoever did this will get away with it," he said.
