DA: Man Drowns in Gravely Pond in Hamilton

The victim was found approximately 35-feet from the shoreline of Gravely Pond

A Massachusetts man drowned Tuesday afternoon at a pond in Hamilton, according to the Essex District Attorney's office.

Authorities said police and fire responded to Gravely Pond at about 2 p.m. for a report of a possible drowning.

When crews entered the water, they located the victim approximately 35-feet from the shoreline in about 6-feet of water.

The 23-year-old Beverly man was taken to Beverly Hospital where he was pronounced dead. The victim's identity is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.

State and local police are investigating but foul play is not suspected at this time.
