Suspect in Fatal Hyannis Stabbing Arrested After Fleeing Scene on Bicycle

Nicholas Galanto, 32, has been charged with murder in connection with the fatal stabbing of 23-year-old Brendan Flynn

A Massachusetts man is being held without bail on charges that he fatally stabbed a man Sunday night in Hyannis, according to the Cape and Islands District Attorney’s Office.

Nicholas Galanto, 32, was charged with murder during his arraignment Monday in Barnstable District Court.

Police said they responded to the Village Green at 10:36 p.m. after receiving a 911 call for a report of a stabbing. When officers arrived, they found 23-year-old Brendan Flynn suffering from "traumatic" injuries.

Flynn was taken to Cape Cod Hospital, where he later died.

Galanto had fled the scene on a bicycle but was taken into custody a short time later behind a nearby residence.

It's unclear how the men knew one another or what the motive for the stabbing might be.

Galanto is due back in court June 25. It's not known if he has an attorney.
