Boston police on Monday identified the victim of a Friday shooting that is part of a rash of gun violence that injured 10 others in recent days.
The department said 28-year-old Shawn Rae Hewson and two other men were shot in the Jamaica Plain neighborhood at around 11 p.m. on Friday.
All three were taken to the hospital, but the two other men, who police did not identify, suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
Police said they're still investigating the circumstances of the shooting and are asking anyone with information to call the department or its anonymous tip line.
Hewson is so far the lone fatality stemming from the city's recent spate of gun violence.
WBUR reports at least 10 other people have been injured in separate shootings in at least four different neighborhoods since Friday.
That tally also includes three people shot early Monday morning in the city's Brighton neighborhood, two shot in the Mattapan neighborhood Sunday night, and three others shot in the Dorchester neighborhood early Sunday.
Most of those victims sustained non-life threatening injuries and are expected to survive.
