A Massachusetts man was arraigned from his hospital bed on Monday following a police-related shooting over the weekend in Brockton.
Claude Brown-Madison was ordered held without bail pending a dangerousness hearing during his arraignment at Boston Medical Center. He was charged with armed assault with intent to murder, assault with a dangerous weapon, firearm violation after committing three prior violent or drug offenses, unlawful possession of a firearm, and possession of a firearm without an FID card.
The Fall River resident was taken into custody at about 9 a.m. Saturday after state police say he and a trooper had a confrontation on Colonel Bell Drive.
Authorities said the trooper fired his weapon and Brown-Madison suffered a leg injury, which police said appeared to be non-life threatening.
"After the trooper shot the suspect and secured him, the trooper rendered first aid to him," police said in the statement. Numerous other troopers and Brockton police also responded to the scene.
Brown-Madison was armed during the incident and pointed a firearm at the trooper. The suspect’s firearm was recovered at the scene of the shooting according state police.
"The reason for the initial interaction with the suspect is part of the ongoing investigation," state police said.

The trooper, who has not been identified, was evaluated at Good Samaritan Hospital and released. The trooper was placed on five days of standard administrative leave per State Police policy regarding officer involved shootings.
The shooting is under investigation by State Police Detectives, Crime Scene Services, and a specialized MSP team of senior investigators that responds to Trooper-involved shootings.
Claude Brown-Madison's dangerousness hearing is scheduled for April 30. It's unclear if he has an attorney.
