A man suffered life-threatening injuries and lost a portion of his leg Friday morning after he was trapped in a wood chipper, officials said.
Police in Yarmouth, Massachusetts received a call at 9:49 a.m. about a man seriously injured from a wood chipper outside a home on Highbank Road. At the scene, they found a landscaping employee bleeding "profusely" and his coworkers attempting to treat him.
Authorities applied a tourniquet to control the bleeding before they rushed the victim to Cape Cod Hospital. The current condition of the victim is unclear. Police did not release the identity of the injured man.
Yarmouth police are investigating the incident and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration was notified.
