Man Visiting Christmas Display in Holliston Struck by SUV

A man visiting a Christmas lights display in Holliston, Massachusetts, was hospitalized Wednesday night after being struck by an SUV.

Police said officers responded to 101 Summer St., the area where the Fatima Shrine is located, at about 6 p.m. after receiving multiple 911 calls.

When officers got to the scene, they discovered that the victim had been struck while trying to cross the street. The man, who has not been identified, suffered injuries to the right side of his body due to the impact.

Police told the MetroWest Daily News that the driver remained on the scene after the crash.

Authorities say a witness, who said he was a doctor, was able to provide assistance until first responders arrived.

The man was taken to Milford Regional Hospital by ambulance then flown to UMass Memorial Medical Center where he is recovering with non-life threatening injuries.

The exact cause of the crash remains under investigation by Holliston police.

The Fatima Shrine, the area where the crash occurred, is hosting its Annual Christmas of Lights Celebration until Dec. 28. According to its website, decorations are lit from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.
