Authorities on Cape Cod are investigating a sexual assault that reportedly happened on Thursday evening.
Mashpee police said the victim, described only as a woman in her 30s, was walking near Commercial Street near the Community Health Center of Cape Cod around 5:30 p.m. when she said she was approached by a man who then dragged her into the woods, where he sexually assaulted her.
The woman fought the suspect off, who then ran deeper into the woods, police said.
Mashpee investigators along with the Barnstable County Sheriff's K-9 unit searched the area, but found no trace of the suspect.
The suspect is described as tall, in his 40s and was wearing a dark coat.
