A Brighton, Massachusetts woman was killed in Maine after the snowmobile she was operating crashed into a tree, according to the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife.
Martha Carroll, 56, crashed the 2002 Polaris 700 snowmobile near Wilson Pond in Wayne, Maine around 5:45 p.m. Saturday, officials say.
Carroll was wearing a ski-type helmet at the time of the crash but a combination of speed, alcohol, and inexperience all contributed to the incident, authorities believe.
