Massport Names New CEO

The Massachusetts Port Authority has named a new leader.

Massport announced Thursday that its next CEO will be Lisa Wieland, an internal candidate who has been with the organization since 2006.

The board of directors voted to name Wieland, Massport's current port director, as the head of the organization for the next five years. She will replace acting CEO John Pranckevicius, who has served in the role since last November.

As port director, Wieland has overseen increased port revenues and sizable infrastructure projects, including the Boston Harbor Dredging Project, Massport says. She also serves as one of three women on a committee that advises the U.S. Department of Transportation marine transportation issues.

"Lisa will hit the ground running on day one in her new role, advancing the great momentum, upward trajectory and many important projects in the pipeline at Massport," Board Chairman Lew Evangelidis said. "We are excited for Lisa to take on this new challenge."

A diverse pool of candidates was sought for the position, and search firm Isaacson, Miller narrowed the field to 10 semifinalists that included five women and three people of color.
