Mayoral Candidate Egged Neighbor's Home in Quincy: Police

Brenda Ryan was charged with defacing property, according to court records obtained by The Patriot Ledger

A mayoral candidate in a Boston suburb was summoned to court earlier this year after police say she threw eggs at a neighbor's home.

Brenda Ryan was charged with defacing property, according to court records obtained by The Patriot Ledger.

Ryan, an author and researcher making her first run for elected office, is challenging incumbent Quincy Mayor Thomas Koch in next week's election.

Ryan told the newspaper the charge is just an "accusation" and declined further comment.

Police began investigating in April after the owner of a home said someone threw eggs at the house while a tenant was inside.

Ryan would not disclose to police why she did it.

Police responded to a similar incident in May, but no one was charged.

Ryan is due back in court in December.
