Most State Beaches in Rhode Island Open for the Season

State beaches will be open daily until Labor Day

Most state beaches in Rhode Island are now open.

The Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management says Saturday is the traditional start of the summer outdoor recreation season.

State beaches will be open daily until Labor Day. Rhode Island's beaches, parks, campsites and trails attract an estimated 9 million visitors annually.

Scarborough South won't open until June 22, when lifeguards, beach staff and restrooms are available.

The state encouraged beach visitors to buy season passes online because these passes won't be available at beach entrance booths on weekends or holidays.

The environmental department says there are new concession menus and retail services, such as beach chair and umbrella rentals.

Beaches within state parks also opened for the season on Saturday. There are no fees to access beaches within state parks.
