Mother Facing Child Assault Charges Determined to be Dangerous

The 21-year-old, Thaysa Gagne, is accused of causing severe injuries to her 3-month-old child

A Fall River mother facing charges for assaulting her 3-month-old baby was found dangerous at a court hearing Monday, according to The Herald News.

Judge Kevin Finnerty said there was clear evidence that Thaysa Gagne, 21, presented a danger to her child. Judge Finnerty also determined conditions for Gagne's release from custody, which he said would protect the infant. She must report to probation and stay away from children.

The charges were placed earlier this month after doctors from Hasbro Children’s Hospital discovered an intrusion to the child’s vaginal canal and notified the police. The child is now in the custody of the Department of Children and Families.

The Herald News reports that Gagne’s next court hearing will be on August 13.
