Multiple People Seriously Hurt After Van Goes Over Guardrail on I-93 in Randolph

The cause of the wreck is still being investigated by Massachusetts State Police

Several people have been seriously hurt after a work van went over a guardrail Friday morning on Interstate 93 in Randolph, according to Massachusetts State Police.

State Troopers responded to the wreck on I-93 North near the Route 24 junction just before 6 a.m. Friday. Troopers gave medical help to passengers of the 2019 Dodge van, alongside Randolph Fire and EMS and a Good Samaritan who stopped to assist.

There were five people riding in the van to a work site, three of whom were seriously injured in the crash. A fourth has life-threatening injuries.

A 23-year-old man from South Windsor, Conn. was the driver of the van, and was taken to Boston Medical Center with serious injuries, as was a 27-year-old man from New Britain, Conn., a 32-year-old New Britain, Conn. woman and a 29-year-old man from Connecticut, troopers said.

The fifth passenger, a 30-year-old woman from Vernon, Conn., was taken to the same medical facility with minor injuries, according to troopers.

The Good Samaritan who stopped to help is a volunteer firefighter and a dispatcher for Brewster Ambulance.

The crash has resulted in a lane closure in the area until 9:30 a.m.

The cause of the wreck is still being investigated by Massachusetts State Police.
