A New Hampshire man is facing child endangerment and drug charges after allegedly allowing a 1-year-old boy in his care to be exposed to fentanyl and cocaine in September.
Nashua resident Charles Daye, 25, was arrested and charged Wednesday with second degree assault, endangering the welfare of a child and reckless conduct, according to Nashua police.
Authorities say their investigation began in early September, when officers responded to a local hospital for a child having an unknown medical issue. Police say investigators were able to determine that the 1-year-old boy had been exposed to cocaine and fentanyl.
Daye was arrested without incident following an investigation. It’s not clear how Daye is connected to the child.
Daye was also charged with drug possession and falsifying physical evidence in connection with an unrelated incident in October.
Police say they arrested Daye on a warrant out of the Hillsborough County Superior Court-South for not appearing in court after he allegedly tried to swallow a bag containing an illicit drug.
Daye was held on $100,000 pending his arraignment on Thursday. It’s not clear if he has an attorney.
