Mostly Sunny Start to Week, But Rain – and Snow for Some – on the Way

Fall weather and scenery has consumed ALL of New England now. As the color wave descends from the mountains to the coast, our concerns shift from who hits 70 degrees to where the rain may mix with snow. But not in the immediate term.

After a hard Monday morning freeze, sun will warm us just above Sunday’s numbers – with a little help from the southwest wind. Some clouds may sneak in during the afternoon, but the day should be fairly bright.

Wet weather is moving in on Tuesday. At this point, showers will be intermittent and scattered throughout the day. With that in mind, the World Series won’t be washed out, but it will be cool. Highs make the mid-50s Tuesday, but cool to near 50 by game time.

Overall, this weather system is weak by our New England standards, but it will have a surprise burst of snow in store for far Northern New England Tuesday night and early Wednesday. There might be some minor accumulation across Northwest Maine and the Green & White Mountains too. Cold air is certain to shuffle in on Wednesday – not before hitting the 50s again across Southern New England.

Thereafter, cold will seal our fate for the remainder of the workweek. Highs in the 40s may be more typical of November, but it should stunt the abnormally warm start to October.
