NFL Denies Rob Gronkowski's Appeal of 1-Game Suspension

Rob Gronkowski's appeal of his 1-game suspension was denied Tuesday afternoon.

An NFL spokesman said appeals officer Derrick Brooks denied the Patriots tight end's appeal of his suspension for a late hit on Tre'Davious White of the Buffalo Bills on Sunday.

White was down on the sideline after an interception when Gronkowski jumped on him, hitting White's back and head.

Gronkowski was not kicked out of the game, but did apologize after it ended.

"I'm not in the business of that," he said. "There was a lot of frustration. I just want to apologize to Tre'Davious White. I don't believe in taking shots like that."

Gronkowski said he was pushed and held by a Bills player during the play that resulted in the interception. The Patriots ultimately beat the Bills 23-3.

Patriots coach Bill Belichick had little to say when asked about the suspension on Tuesday.

"Well, we'll see what happens when we get the final word," he said. "That's not a decision that we have. It's not our decision."

The suspension means Gronkowski will miss Monday night's game against the Miami Dolphins.
