Brady on Goff: ‘I'm Not Giving Him Any Advice'

Players and coaches of the New England Patriots and Los Angeles Rams spoke Monday night as the teams prepared to battle in Super Bowl LIII.

Patriots quarterback Tom Brady has no shortage of experience — Sunday will be his ninth Super Bowl — and he was asked by NFL Network if he had any advice for third-year Rams quarterback Jared Goff.

"I'm not giving him any advice. Are you crazy?" Brady said with a laugh. "They got a great team. I got to go against that guy all night, so that's what I'm concerned about."

Brady is confident in himself and his team, but he praised the Rams' work on both sides of the ball.

"I know how great of a player [Goff] is," Brady said. "They got a great defense. Best D-line in the league. Couple of the best interceptors probably to ever play in this game, so I got my work cut out for me."

One of those pick threats is Brady's former teammate, cornerback Aqib Talib.

"He the GOAT. He's the best," Talib said of Brady.

Brady recalled when Talib first joined the Patriots, head coach Bill Belichick wanted to see if he could play receiver after practice. Talib was proud to be able to say he caught passes from Brady.

"He could have been as good a receiver as he is a corner. Great athlete," Brady said of Talib.

The first of Brady's five Super Bowl wins came against the Rams, then of St. Louis. He reflected on that game 17 years ago.

"I have a lot of memories from that week," "The most important thing I remember was that ball going through the uprights at the end."

Tight end Rob Gronkowski, who has battled injury issues for much of his career, saw his receiving numbers decline this year. But he said he is ready for the big game and still called 2018 a great season for his team.

"I'm feeling good. I am feeling good," Gronkowski said. "Great season. Look where we are now. We're at the point where we want to be, so it's another successful season."

Gronkowski said he did not know if he would retire after the Super Bowl.

"I'm thinking how to get myself to go full-go in the game," he said. "Just working on that."

Brady said over the weekend that there was "zero" chance he would retire after the season. Belichick was also asked how long he would remain head coach.

"Focused on this game, that's what I'm going to concentrate on," Belichick said.

The coach praised his team for ignoring the noise during an up-and-down season and fighting their way to thier third Super Bowl appearance in as many years.

"I don't think this team spends a lot of time worrying about what everybody else thinks. We know what we feel like we have to do. We have a lot of confidence in each other. We work hard and try to get things done. And when we don't do them, we try to correct the mistakes and move on and do them better," Belichick said. "I think that's the most important thing, not what everybody's saying outside, whether we're good or bad or whatever, it doesn't really matter."
