New England Refreshed With Cool Temperatures

Our refreshing airmass continues today with cool temperatures and low humidity. Highs are running 5 to 8 degrees below normal over much of New England.

Onshore wind is now present, keeping towns near the coast rather cool, mainly in the 60s. The wind is also responsible for a moderate risk of rip currents on the beaches.

A small craft advisory is in effect until 8 p.m. Monday for the South Coast, Cape Cod and the Islands due to the stiff northeast wind.

Our weather will be pretty much copy-and-waste Monday, with a blend of clouds and sun, a spot shower and cooler near the water. We'll have highs in the 60s along the coast, with 70s inland. Wednesday, the humidity starts to increase a bit and temperatures also rise into the upper 70s.

By midweek, a tropical disturbance will pass south of Nantucket, so we will keep a close eye on it — for now, it is expected to stay off shore, but it could also mean building swell/surf for beaches along Southern New England.

A front will also approach from the west, so our rain chances climb Wednesday into Thursday. Our 10-Day First Alert Forecast takes us out to Labor Day weekend which features a mostly sunny sky both Saturday and Sunday with a chance for a stray shower on the holiday itself with highs in the upper 70s to low 80s.
