They didn't win the big jackpot, but a group of winners from a New Hampshire business have claimed a $1 million Powerball prize.
The New Hampshire Lottery says a winning ticket was sold at a Cumberland Farms on Daniel Webster Highway in Nashua for the drawing on Saturday, March 23.
Lottery officials say the ticket was claimed Wednesday morning at lottery headquarters in Concord by about 20 employees of Jordan's Furniture in Nashua. Thirty employees pooled their money together.
"What a tremendous moment to be able to award this big group of lucky winners this $1 million prize," said Charlie McIntyre, executive director, New Hampshire Lottery. "The New Hampshire Lottery encourages players to take part in pools, as it makes the experience more fun when you can share the excitement and anticipation with friends, family or co-workers."
Litchfield resident Julia Crema, one of the winners, said the group has been buying lottery for years.
"We have been playing Powerball together off and on for years and we always dreamed we'd land a big winner. Today is our lucky day," Crema said.
McIntyre said there's still time to get tickets for Wednesday's Powerball jackpot, which has reached $750 million.
