A New York man who threatened to travel to Maine to kill people at a Home Depot store and torture and kill a woman's family, authorities said Wednesday.

Robert Rademacher of Ronkonkoma, was arrested on a warrant for terrorizing, according to a statement from Maine State Police.

A woman from Lyman, Maine, who met Rademacher online and had been speaking to him for several years, told police he had sent her threatening messages, according to the statement. Rademacher allegedly said he would kill people at the Home Depot in Biddeford, and threatened to torture and kill members of the woman's family as well.

Previously, Rademacher had sent the woman a picture of himself wielding a shotgun, police said.

Maine State Police met with Home Depot officials to make sure employees and customers were safe. They also shared information and photos of Rademacher with local authorities in Biddeford, the statement said.

Police in Suffolk County, New York, arrested Rademacher after the York County District Attorney's Office in Maine issued a warrant.

Rademacher is being held on $10,000 cash bail. It was not immediately clear if he had an attorney.
