Did the Patriots Just Sign Gronk's Replacement?

The New England Patriots took a notable step to fill Rob Gronkowski's void Wednesday.

The Patriots have signed free-agent tight end Austin Seferian-Jenkins to a one-year contract, ESPN's Field Yates reported Wednesday.

Seferian-Jenkins, 26, arguably was the most accomplished tight end left on the free agent market. He appeared in just five games for the Jacksonville Jaguars last season before heading to injured reserved but caught a career-high 50 passes for 357 yards and three touchdowns with the New York Jets in 2017.

With Gronkowski retired, Seferian-Jenkins joins Matt LaCosse, Jacob Hollister and Stephen Anderson in a tight end group that New England still may look to bolster in the 2019 NFL Draft.
