Josh Gordon's career with the New England Patriots is about to end.
ESPN's Adam Schefter reported Thursday the Patriots will release Gordon from injured reserve.

Gordon is not yet a free agent, however. He needs to go through waivers, where the the teams with the worst records in the NFL will have the first opportunity to claim him. If the veteran wide receiver goes unclaimed, then he would become an unrestricted free agent.
Here's how much a team would have to pay Gordon for the rest of the 2019 season if he's claimed, per ESPN's Field Yates:

Gordon was placed on injured reserve by the Patriots last week, before they played the Cleveland Browns in Week 8. He missed New England's Week 7 win over the New York Jets with knee/ankle injuries.
He was acquired by the Patriots in a trade with the Cleveland Browns in September of 2018. Gordon ended up playing in 17 games for the Patriots between the 2018 and 2019 seasons, and he tallied 60 receptions for 1,007 yards and four touchdowns.
The Patriots bolstered their wide receiver depth before Tuesday's trade deadline by acquiring Mohamed Sanu from the Atlanta Falcons last week.
