NH State Police: Man Drove 106 MPH, Nearly Hit Cruiser

New Hampshire State Police have charged a man with driving 106 miles an hour in a 55-mile-an-hour zone in Randolph.

Twenty-three-year-old Scott Steiger Jr., of Laconia, was stopped and arrested on Sunday afternoon on Route 2. A trooper swerved out of the way to avoid being hit as he saw Steiger's car accelerating to pass another vehicle.

Steiger was charged with reckless driving, overtaking a vehicle on the left, and a solid yellow line violation. He is scheduled for arraignment on May 22. It wasn't immediately known if he had a lawyer, and a phone number couldn't be found for him.
