Anti-Trump ‘Nobody is Above the Law’ Rally Held in Boston

A rally and march was held late Thursday afternoon on Boston Common to protest and support the integrity of the special counsel Robert Mueller's investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election.

"Nobody is Above the Law – Protect the Mueller Investigation" is one of hundreds of demonstrations being organized around the country by MoveOn over fears that President Donald Trump will interfere with the investigation.

The Boston rally got underway around 5 p.m. and lasted about an hour.

The nationwide rallies come after Attorney General Jeff Sessions resigned earlier this week and was replaced with Acting Attorney General Matt Whitaker.

Critics worry that Whitaker may be unlikely or unwilling to defend the Department of Justice's independence against political interference by the White House given his history of loyalty to Trump.

Meanwhile, Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein was scheduled to meet Thursday with Trump amid conflicting reports about his fate in the administration.

Trump has been weighing whether to fire him, and a report that Rosenstein, who has been overseeing the special counsel's Russia investigation, was resigning set off hours of speculation in media reports.

But press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders' statement on the Thursday meeting appeared to demonstrate that Rosenstein would remain secure in his role for at least a few days.
