Mass. Woman Indicted for Illegally Injecting Customers With Silicone

Gladys Araceli Ceron allegedly charged $500 for buttock injections and $60 for wrinkle-filling injections

A Massachusetts woman has been indicted by a grand jury for performing illegal silicone injections at her Lawrence business, according to the office of U.S. Attorney Andrew Lelling.

According to court documents, 71-year-old Gladys Araceli Ceron of North Andover allegedly obtained "gluteal material" from a source in Florida and used it to provide injections for buttock and face enhancement.

Ceron allegedly told a cooperating witness she charges $500 for buttock injections and $60 for wrinkle-filling injections.

The defendant was indicted on four charges of delivery for pay of an adulterated or misbranded device received in interstate commerce, according to Lelling’s office.

She is scheduled to return to court on Aug. 8. She faces up to three years in prison and a fine of $250,000.

Ceron allegedly ran her business for eight years, the documents said. During a search of her home in 2016, plastic bottles of cosmetic silicone fillers were seized and taken to a lab for testing.

Tests confirmed the substance contained silicone oil, which can cause stroke, permanent disfigurement or death, according to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.

In 2018, officials began to work with a cooperating witness who recorded phone calls arranging an appointment with Ceron. A search of Ceron’s business the following month revealed she had several bottles and syringes of silicone oil that were eventually seized by authorities.
