Occupants of Car That Caused Crash on I-95 Revived Using Narcan

Two people were found unresponsive in the car when police arrived at the scene

Massachusetts State Police said two occupants in a car that caused a crash on Interstate 95 on Friday were found unresponsive and had to be revived using Narcan due to a possible drug overdose.

The crash was reported around 10 a.m. on I-95 south near Exit 37A in Reading. Two left travel lanes had to be shut down due to the crash, causing delays.

Police said the two occupants were found unresponsive and were not breathing due to what is believed to be a drug overdose. A state trooper administered Narcan to both and was able to revive them. They were transported to local hospitals and their conditions were not immediately known.

The driver of the car they hit was not injured.

The investigation is ongoing. No further information was immediately available.
