Police said they do not believe that a series of shootings that happened over the course of a violent weekend in Boston are connected, but residents remain concerned after five people were killed across the city.
The shootings happened in Mattapan, Roxbury and Dorchester. The violence began early Friday when a man, identified as 26-year-old Raymond Holloway-Creighton of Dorchester, was fatally shot on Massachusetts Avenue in Roxbury.
"He was caring, he was loving. He just liked to have fun," the victim's grieving mother, Cynthia Creighton, said.
Cynthia Creighton said her son was preparing to return to the Netherlands in a few weeks to be with his wife and son.
"My grandson will be turning one and the day that he asks me what happened to his father, I want to be able to tell him," she said.
Several hours after Holloway-Creighton's death, there was a double shooting in Dorchester in the area of Alexander and Bird streets, leaving another man dead.
Before the weekend, one grieving family was set to celebrate the 68th birthday of Jose Luis Phinn Williams but instead, they are now planning his funeral.

"My brother was a hard worker. He'd been here since 1970 and he has seven children," Rose Phinn-Westby, Williams' sister, said.
Williams, a gas station clerk, was fatally shot Saturday in Dorchester while on the job in what is believed to be an attempted robbery.
Kevin Williams, 21, was arrested in connection to the death and was charged with assault with intent to murder, unlawful possession of a firearm and attempted robbery.
On Sunday morning, the violence continued when there were two shootings in Mattapan, less than a mile apart.
The first shooting took place at 18 Mildred Ave. in Mattapan around 2:30 a.m. Sunday morning, where a man in his 40s was shot and killed.
Sunday's second fatal shooting happened at 88 Itasca St. just before noon, which killed an unidentified man in his 30s. An investigation led police to arrest 26-year-old Kai Harris.
Police say they are actively investigating this weekend's shootings.
