Massachusetts State Police say Anita Stevens, 57, of Brockton, died after losing control on the ramp from Route 44 to I-495 northbound

Officials have identified the Massachusetts woman killed Friday in a four-vehicle crash on Interstate 495 in Middleboro.

Massachusetts State Police say Anita Stevens, 57, of Brockton, died after losing control on the ramp from Route 44 to I-495 northbound around 4:15 p.m., leading to the crash.

Stevens' GMC Envoy spun out and ended up stationary while facing south in the right lane on the northbound side of the highway. She was hit head-on by a Cadillac CTS, which spun into the left lane, hitting a Kia Optima. A Toyota Sienna also hit the Kia, police said.

Stevens was taken to Morton Hospital in Taunton, where she was pronounced dead. The Cadillac's driver was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital in Brockton with serious injuries.

State police are investigating the cause of the crash and why Stevens lost control of her vehicle.

The crash was reported around 5 p.m. on I-495 northbound, just north of Exit 6. All lanes were closed except for the breakdown lane until 7:20 p.m., police said.
