Peabody Officer Receives Thank You Note for Service on Frigid Day

A simple gesture from a Massachusetts resident warmed the heart of a Peabody police officer working a detail on a frigid day.

The Peabody Police Department posted a Facebook message from one of its officers on Tuesday after he worked a detail at MarketStreet in Lynnfield.

The post said that while the officer was walking around the open air shopping center on the 21-degree day, a woman walked up to him and gave him a handwritten note.

"Thank you for risking your life every day for complete strangers, thank for you working days, nights, weekends, holidays and countless others special occasions to keep us safe. Thank you for continuing to do the job you were sworn to do, despite all that is happening around you. You are strong, you are brave, you are a hero. You will always have my deepest appreciation, respect and support," read part of the note from "Mary".

The 37-year veteran of the force said that after reading the note, he suddenly didn't feel so cold and his feet hurt much less thanks to Mary's kindness.

"So Mary, thank you. It was a well needed boost of both comfort and morale," wrote the officer.
